LAYERS

Talking about Urban Art is talking about cities.
As a former architect, Catarina often reflects upon the city and its image. LAYERS, aims to open a dialog between the viewer and the image of the city. Any Urban Art work, not only reflects the living artist but mostly, depicts the present of each city, its social and cultural paradigma. Yet, underneath, it often hides another time, another urban art work, another era. Hence, an Urban Art work, is always something not perene, subject to time, to the city's changes. Always subject to society's judgment and validation. Something in constant change, moving. One layer on top of the other; A time muting another. LAYERS aims to reflect this constant change, depending the light from each viewer, a juxtaposition of paint, a juxtaposition of time, on the Art Work, aiming to replace it for another era, another time. As one being, there's no straight line on one's life. Each individual is a sum of layers, different beings from different times merged onto one, always changing. |
