ART?
|
Talking about Urban Art is talking about cities.
As a former architect, Catarina often reflects upon the city and the image of the city. How do we live our cities? Are they equal to they people? How one live a city in a way, and another in another way? Where's Art? In city's architecture, museums, galleries, in the streets? Does it happen intentionally or from casualties? "ART?", raises once more the question, what is art, where is it? Urban Art plays a crucial role in raising this question to everyone. Opens the debate and dialogue. Outside the galleries and museums' realm, Urban Art is out there, screaming for everyone to see it, to admire it, ultimately to hate it. Undoubtedly, a long path has been made and a new era achieved. Having conquered its space and respect amongst many, there are still some barriers to break, some culture to leverage, to build. Urban Art, by Urban Art, Catarina intents to include the overall Architecture of the city, Public Art works, and all the beauty within the Public realm, is thus left to society's discretion and will to its own luck and destiny, Urban Art is still target for wilful damage or vandalism. Yet it prevails, and expresses its purpose by contrasting against vandalism, even in a stronger way, sharper, making its own path, valuable on itself. |
